Getting Here & Resort Entry

Falls Creek is 4 ½ hours from Melbourne, an easy day’s drive from Sydney and under 2 hours  from Albury.

In winter access to Falls Creek is only via the township of Mount Beauty with the road to  Omeo closed at Falls Creek. During the declared snow season the road from Mt Beauty to  Falls Creek is regularly cleared of snow and while carrying chains is a legal requirement they  are rarely fitted on this road.

The resort is also serviced by coach transfers and private transfers.

Resort Entry

All vehicles visiting Falls Creek Resort during the winter season are required to pay a Resort Entry Fee. The easiest way is to pay online prior to travel.

Parking

Drive in to your secure undercover car park on arrival in Falls Creek. Then ascend the internal  stairwell straight to your apartment. No need for on snow transfers. One car space per apartment, additional cars can park in the resorts overnight car park area.

There are several ways to get to Falls Creek. For full details go to Getting Here .  Falls Creak Coach Service/Caltex Tawonga has winter fuel and good value chain hire 7 days a week.   They offer undercover and outdoor park and ride service for those not wanting the hassle of driving to the snow.   For more info Falls Creek Coach Service

 

Alpine Woodsmoke is located on Bogong High Plains Road, on the southern edge of the village.    You can drive your vehicle to Alpine Woodsmoke undercover car park.   One space per apartment.   Car park clearance is 2.4m.    Its a short walk to the main chairlift and Slalom Plaza.    

On arrival in Falls Creek, let parking attendants know you are staying at Alpine Woodsmoke and they will direct you to the property.    Use your entry code to access the undercover car park and park in your allocated space.   Go through to green stairwell door and use stairs to access your apartment.   Use your entry code to access the apartment. 

The resort anticipates late arrivals, particularly on a Friday night.

Resort Entry, Car Park Attendants operate until about 10pm except on Friday when they operate until midnight.

Prior to your arrival, you will be provided with your apartment door codes to access the car park and your apartment when you arrive. If you need any assistance, call guest services on 0407 670 940. 

There is one undercover car park per apartment at Alpine Woodsmoke.   There are no spare undercover car park spaces.     

Additional vehicles can drive to Alpine Woodsmoke to unload/load the car and then must park in the resorts overnight car park area.    There is overnight car parking located close to Alpine Woodsmoke or parking attendants can assist to find you a parking spot. 

Outside of the declared snow season, no resort entry or parking fee applies.

During the declared snow season, Resort Entry & Parking Fees apply to all vehicles entering the resort.  Permits bought online are around 10% cheaper than buying at the gate. You can now print out your receipt and display in the windscreen as your Permit – this means no stopping at Resort Entry which saves you time.

There are several different ticket options available ranging from all-inclusive lift, lesson and rental passes through to specialised beginner packages and children’s programs.   Some discounts are available if you book your tickets 14 or more days in advance when you order online via the Falls Creek eStore or you can purchase your tickets when you are in Falls Creek.   We recommend Central Snowsports for Rental. 

You can store your luggage in the secure undercover car park area as required prior to check in or after check out.  

If you are planning to arrive early, please contact guest services to check if your car park space is available for you.   0407 670 940.    If your car park space is available, you can access the undercover car park early.  Guest services will then contact you when your apartment is ready.   Normal check in is 4pm.  

Each apartment has a separate laundry which also functions as a drying room.   You can adjust the thermostat and close the laundry door to dry your gear.   There are plenty of coat hangers and hanging space.  

Foodworks Supermarket is located nearby below Slalom Plaza at Falls Creek. 

If you shop before 3pm, Foodworks will deliver your groceries to your apartment. Delivery is free if you spend over $100. Under $100 will incur $5 flat rate delivery charge. Foodworks Falls Creek does not pick and pack orders for delivery – if you require this service it must be done through the Mount Beauty Foodworks store. For full details go to Foodworks Supermarket.

Yes.   Snow chains are a legal requirement for ALL vehicles entering Falls Creek alpine resort. All vehicles (including 2WD & 4WD) must carry a pair of snow chains even when the roads are clear during the declared snow season. Random checks from police will be carried out during the season and fines do apply. Snow chains can be hired from various ski hire and service stations on your way to Falls Creek or you may wish to purchase/hire them before you commence your journey. There is designated snow chain fitting bays along the mountain ascent so make sure you are aware of how to fit chains correctly. Make sure you have a torch, towel, gloves and a plastic sheet as you never what time of the day or in what conditions you may need to fit snow chains.

Late check-out is unfortunately not available as we need to prepare the apartments for arrivals in the afternoon. Apartments need to be vacated by 10am on the day of departure.    It may be possible to leave your car in the undercover car park for the day while you ski/board, please call guest services to confirm 0407 670 940 

When snow levels are good, you can ski-in to Alpine Woodsmoke via the beginner run, Wombats Ramble.    Ski to the lower left corner of the run and stop at the second gap in the snow fence.   You will be just above Alpine Woodsmoke.   You can ski down or take skis off and walk down to the ski entrance door.  

To ski out, you leave the entrance area and can ski/board or walk down Snowgums Lane to the main chairlift, Halley's Comet.

If you prefer not to ski in/out or if there is insufficient snow, you can walk down Snowgums Lane or walk down the Bogong High Plains Road to the main lift.
